Safran Larzac 04-C6 / C20 Engine Support

Purpose-Built Program Support

The Safran Larzac 04-C6 / C20 is a legacy low-bypass turbofan engine used on the Alpha Jet advanced trainer aircraft. While no longer in mass production, the platform remains in service worldwide for military and civilian training missions, requiring experienced, program-based maintenance support.

Essential Turbines Inc. has supported the Larzac program for more than a decade, providing specialized module-level overhaul and repair services under long-term, schedule-driven programs. This work differs from traditional commercial MRO and is performed as part of a structured maintenance ecosystem focused on reliability, consistency, and strict compliance.

  • 01 Scope of Larzac Support
  • 02 Program Challenges
  • 03 Technical Problem Solving
  • 04 Performance and Continuity

Scope of Larzac Support

Essential Turbines’ Larzac services focus on module-level overhaul and repair aligned with the program’s established maintenance model. Scope includes disassembly, cleaning, inspection, repair, reassembly, balancing of rotary components, and release of serviceable modules with approved documentation. Modules are returned to the customer for final engine assembly and testing.

Program Challenges & Essential Turbines Approach

Supporting the Larzac engine involves limited documentation, aging parts availability, and a high proportion of life-limited components. Essential Turbines addresses these challenges through inspection-driven decision-making, strict adherence to approved manuals, and disciplined execution to ensure reliability and continuity.

Technical Problem-Solving in Practice

Essential Turbines resolved blade path clearance and abradable seal challenges affecting compressor efficiency by refining tolerances within approved limits, restoring reliable performance and power.

Program Performance & Continuity

Essential Turbines has supported the Larzac program since approximately 2009, servicing more than 500 modules with consistent, on-time delivery under annual maintenance schedules.

Compliance and Standards

All work is performed in accordance with approved overhaul manuals with Form 1 or equivalent documentation, full traceability, and alignment with customer engineering oversight.

Customers value Essential Turbines consistency, technical judgment, legacy platform expertise, and long-term program familiarity.
